Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Research shows that we can easily eat 1800 calories at our Thanksgiving meal if we are not mindful of what we put on our plate and in our mouth. 1800 calories is about what we should eat in a whole day not just at one meal. Therefore be careful with your choices- try to go easy on the heavy items such as creamy dishes. The best advice I can offer is watch your portion sizes- if you want to try everything that is offered then take very small portions of each item. Do not go back for seconds and do not pick at food once you are done eating.
Also another popular thing we all think is I will not eat all day to save up for Thanksgiving dinner so I can eat as much as I want. By not eating all day you are slowing your metabolism down. So be sure you eat all your meals up to your thanksgiving dinner. Plus not eating all day will make you more hungry at dinner which leads to overeating.
Finally, get out and go for a walk after dinner and clean up. Today is a beautiful day to get some physical activity- aim for physical activity before dinner and then again after you eat- such as a brisk walk.
Then when it comes to dessert again be sure to watch portion sizes- keep it small!
Enjoy your day!
